Oil and Minerals Minister Ameer al-Aidrous said on Saturday that the first export of Yemeni liquefied natural gas will start in 2009.
Upon his return home coming from France, al-Aidrous said to Saba that 80 percent of the liquefied Gas project in Yemen has been accomplished and concerning the Balhaf gas station, 95 percent of the project's pipe was almost accomplished.
During his visit to France, al-Aidrous chaired a meeting of Yemen Liquefied Natural Gas Company which concluded its activities last Wednesday in the capital Paris.
"It is supposed the project's last phase will be finished soon and the exportation of gas will be in the first months of 2009", said al-Aidrous.
The three-day meeting was attended by representatives of world companies and banks which have some shares of the project.
