Hadi in his cable expressed his confidence that the rich traditions of brotherly relations between Yemen and Turkey will continue to develop in all areas.

He hoped the new leader to make a success in carrying out his tasks in his country, wising him and his people further progress and aspiration.

In Sunday's election Turkey's outgoing Prime Minister Erdogan got 51.79 percent of the vote, while his main rival, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, got just below 40%, according to Turkey's Supreme Election Board, and was elected to a five-year term as president in the country's first directly elected presidential poll.
