To Mark the 100 birthday anniversary of the great writer Ali Ahmed Bakthir early next year,that coincidise with Tarim being capital city of Islamic culture 2010, the the Ministry of Culture is organizing Bakathir Festivals
Although it has not been of interest both at home or the original home Hadhramaut or his creative home of Egypt. Ahmed Bakthir was born in 1910 on the island of Sorobaia in Indonesia of a Yemeni parents, and when he attained the age of Ten years , returned to Hadhramaut and brought up in an rabic and of Islamic culture. He grew up and received his education in the School of Renaissance in Seiyoun then migrated to Egypt, where he married and acquired the Egyptian nationality and remained there until his death in 1969. The Ministry of Culture had started to organize Bakathir festival in the nineties, but it did not continue, which is considered by some as an unfortunate decision, and perhaps this is understood by the ministry recently made to organize for the resumption of an annual festival.
