India declares state of security alert at airports

Indian Government announced on Friday security alert at its airports and on board all Indian aircraft based on intelligence reports that groups linked to al Qaeda are planning to hijack planes.
Official sources said that the Indian government had issued instructions to carriers to deploy security guards on board of their aircraft. Security official in the Ministry of Interior Yukieh Bansal told reporters: "We think it may be targeting one of our planes and in particularly , those on international flights. " He added: "We issued instructions to our Security organs to enforce rigorously the measures to combat Hijacking."
