In a statement issued on Tuesday, Binomar said that “all parties are part of what the situation is and they have to realize that there is no exit of this crisis but through a peaceful consensus solution based on outcomes of the National Comprehensive Dialogue which is supported by the UNSC resolution No. 1240.”

He stressed the importance of starting real and faithful negotiations and that the concerned parties show a national interest.

“All parties should not work for their partisan interests only if they want to achieve the supreme interest of Yemen,” the statement reads.

He noted that the UNSC will convene on 29 August in New York to deliberate on the situation in Yemen, saying that “I will submit a report to the SC over the political process and the overall situation in Yemen.”

The UN advisor affirmed that the UN will continue supporting this process, but Yemenis should depend on themselves to solve their problems.

The statement also referred to the GCC support for Yemen, noting that they have also been supporting the political settlement since the launch of the Gulf initiative.
