Al-Sallal referred to the results of the consultations hosted by the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh from 27 to 7 April, and the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, in addition to the formation of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission.

He affirmed the Yemeni government's support for the peace efforts led by the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, which led to a two-month truce, and the Yemeni government's keenness to end the war and bring peace.

For their part, the two Canadian officials welcomed the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council and considered it an important positive development, reiterating Canada's support for the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen.
